Rick's is a grass roots shop, back in the day it was called," a Hard Core Shop", like a Real Surf & Skateboard Shop should be with the most important part being boards, wetsuits, you know, " hardgoods". You won't find fancy chrome displays, artwork, etc. What you will find is the Best Selection of the Latest Surf & Skate Equipment & a staff made up of Surfers & Skateboarders who love to Surf & Skate.

When I set out to create Rick's, I was trying to fill a void in Central Long Island. As you will find on our history page, the local kids needed a place to get their gear. I responded. I wanted to build a shop that was comfortable for surfers, skaters & their families to shop in. A well inventoried shop featuring the latest equipment from the most innovative companies with a staff of people who loved the sports of surfing & skateboarding as much as I do. No attitudes, just fun, as Surfing & Skateboarding should be.

Over the close to 30 years I've been in business there's been many changes in the Action Sports Industry. The product mix has changed at Rick's but our mission hasn't. You will still find the largest & widest selection of the latest equipment & the Friendliest Group of Surfers & Skaters to help you find what you need.

Like our shop, our telephone surf report (631) 581-2299 is grass roots too, done the old fashion way. No cams miles from the accessible breaks, no satellite hookups, our report is reported from the beach each morning where we surf & updated when we get reliable information throughout the day. There's no substitute for eye witness reporting from the beaches we surf year round.
