WRV

We're filled you in on the Best Board Designers/Shapers from Australia & California, now its time to talk about the guys on Our Coast, the Right Coast & WRV, Wave Riding Vehicles is #1. Designed & Shaped in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, WRV Surfboards surf Long Islands Waves the Best. If you have ever traveled to the Outer Banks you will find waves very much the same wave conditions as we have here but a little warmer. WRV has a shaping facility with a team of shapers, glassers & sanders with one thing in mind, building the Best Boards on the East Coast for the East Coast. Rick's teamed up with WRV way back in 1980. Along the way surfboard brands have come & gone at Rick's but WRV is still here because they work & hold up. WRV's besides being great shapes have even better glass jobs. My favorite longboards are WRV's, I have a 10'0" that is insane on really small days & big, windy days & a 9'2" for when I want the crank lots of turns. In the 9'2" I've been experimenting with using the Curved FCS Graphites as side bites with a 5'5" football skeg as a center fin. The curved fins give the tail tons of lift making it able to turn on a dime.

You'll find WRV offers a wide variety of models from fish to high performance shortboards, funboards & longboards all designed & shaped for East Coast Conditions. East Coast conditions like we have here on Long Island demand a board with a little extra nose & tail rocker. Most California shapes are flatter because the waves out there are flatter. By flatter I mean come into the beach at less of an angle, less vertical. On Long Island we mainly surf sandbars where the wave arrives on the bar & jacks up quick. You need a board with extra nose rocker so you can take those late takeoffs without pearling. The added tail rocker helps with making quicker snappier turns. This is true whether we're talking shortboards, funboards or longboards. Next time you're visiting Rick's make sure to check out our WRV selection.
